God’s Pit Crew Collecting Water at Danville Toyota Local Racing Personality to Join

On Saturday God’s Pit Crew is collecting water at Danville Toyota-Scion until Saturday evening. Toyota is open from 8:30am-8:00pm Wednesday-Friday and 9-6 on Saturday, and GPC volunteers will be at the dealership for most of the day. On Saturday, Danville native Peyton Sellers will also be at Danville Toyota signing autographs. Following the January chemical spill in West Virginia, GPC sent over 170,000 bottles of water to the affected areas. Now tornado season approaches and GPC is out of water to give. If a disaster strikes, GPC will be in immediate need of bottled water to send to hurting victims. God’s Pit Crew is grateful to the supportive Danville community and to Danville Toyota-Scion for helping to collect these important supplies.

TWO ROADS INTO PHILPOTT MARINA AREA
TO BE CLOSED TEMPORARILY FOR REPAVING

PHILPOTT LAKE, Bassett, VA – Two roads into Philpott Marina will be closed for repaving the week of April 21, closing access to the boat ramp and the group campground for five days.
The first closure will be Group Camp Road, starting Monday April 21. The second closure will be Boat Ramp Road, starting Tuesday April 22. All work is scheduled to be done by Friday April 25 to allow the boat ramp and the group camp area to be re-opened for the weekend.
This is the final phase of the construction project for the Philpott Marina. An official ribbon cutting to celebrate the new facility will be held April 29 at 2 p.m. at the site.
“We appreciate the public’s patience,” said Roger Adams, Director of the Henry County Parks and Recreation Dept. “We know it will be an inconvenience for the citizens who regularly use the facility and the boat ramp, but it’s a step that needs to be done so that we can complete the project.”

Rocky Rockwell, Corps of Engineers Operations Project Manager of Philpott Lake, said adjustments will be implemented to assist boaters during this 5-day period.
“We will open Bowens Creek Park starting Tuesday April 22, to minimize the inconvenience for the boaters,” Rockwell said. “Joining forces to repave the boat ramp approach and parking area will save money for both the County and the Corps of Engineers, and when it’s finished this wonderful facility will be up and running.”
Rockwell praised the community and the team effort as the Philpott Marina project moves to a conclusion.
“We have been very pleased with the coordination between the County and the Corps,” Rockwell said, “and we look forward to strengthening this relationship to the benefit of all Philpott Lake visitors.”
